Painting between worlds — from Dante's circles to pointillist landscapes, bold abstraction to raw portraiture. Acrylic, oil, and mixed media on canvas.

Jacob Melamed is a Los Angeles-based painter whose work moves between literary narrative, raw abstraction, and meticulous pointillism. Working primarily in acrylics and oils on canvas, his pieces pull from sources as vast as Dante's Inferno, ancient symbolism, and the quiet tension of everyday observation.
His practice is defined by range — from large-scale Dante-inspired canvases depicting figures descending through hell, to intricate dot-work landscapes built from thousands of individual marks, to bold geometric compositions that fracture color and space. A recurring thread is the interplay between control and chaos, structure and feeling.
Jacob also explores portraiture through a series of self-portraits rendered in monochrome and vivid blue, examining identity through light, shadow, and color shift. His work has been exhibited locally and is held in private collections across Southern California.
